| The eastern-Pannonian climate
brings warm air and dry winds flowing into the Wachau and meeting with
western-continental streams there. They unite with the cool breezes
drawn from the Waldviertel plateau located towards the north, which
drift like climatic fjords through the side valleys towards the Danube.
This causes strong temperature fluctuations between day and night, which,
together with microclimatic forces, foster the formation of that special,
noble aroma and flavor density Wachau wines have been famous for since
the beginnings of winemaking.
